Giants in the wild

In their natural environment of sandy, coastal spots, these trees can grow up to an impressive 65m tall. Don’t worry - they are slow-growing at home and will reach a maximum of 3m tall.

Star Pine

They are sometimes referred to as the Star Pine due to the star formation seen from the top.

Monkey Puzzle

The Norfolk Island Pine is closely related to the Monkey Puzzle Trees (that grow well here in Cornwall). They are part of the same genus, Araucaria.

CARE TIPS

Light |
Norfolk Island Pines prefer a brightly lit spot, with up to an hour of passing sunlight. Don't worry too much, though; they will tolerate a lower light position away from a window too.

Water | Norfolk Island Pines prefer slightly damp soil, so water when the top few inches of soil is dry, ensuring good drainage.

Humidity | Norfolk Island pines appreciate humid environments. Group it with other plants or on a pebble tray / near a humidifier if you want it to thrive.

Temperature | Unlike other houseplants, the Norfolk Island Pine is perfectly happy in lower temperatures (5-10ºC) during the winter. In brighter summer months, they will do best between 18-22℃.
