A beautifully unique evergreen, the Variegated Leather Fern has glossy dark green triangle-shaped fronds with a brighter green / yellow stripe down the midrib. These attractive leaves are thick and become almost leather-like in their texture as they age - hence the common name!

These variegated contrasting fronds make this a stunning, elegant fern that would be perfect for brightening a shader spot.

If you live locally to us (with a Cornish postcode) during checkout you will have the option to collect your plant from our warehouse or from Open in St Agnes. This is done via your postcode so will only show with a Cornish postcode at checkout.

From the family of Dryopteridaceae. The Leather Fern is native to a vast and diverse range of countries, mainly in the Southern Hemisphere - including South America, Southern Africa, Australasia and the Caribbean.

Other common names include: Iron Fern, Leatherleaf fern

VARIEGATED LEATHER FERN

Care tips

Light: Beginning life in the understory, ferns prefer bright indirect light or a shadier position. They need protection from direct sunlight in the middle of the day.

Water: They prefer damp but not soggy soil. Although slightly more drought tolerant than some other ferns, please do not let dry out completely!

Humidity: Loves humidity and would appreciate regular misting or being in a humid spot, such as a bathroom or kitchen.

Temperature: Happy with an average range of household temperatures, but won’t like getting very cold!
